Pete, one more observation. I was having dinner (in socially distanced way) with 3 friends, all of whom were Republicans and 2 of my Republican friends voted for you in the Democratic primary! I did too, of course, but I am not a Republican. All of us were lamenting the fact that you aren’t running. We miss you!❤️

I graduated high school in a small to mid-sized city in California in the 1950s. There were two African-American students, 1 female & 1 male, in our school. The female student was one of my closest friends and at the time I don't think I even realized she was a different race. She was, very simply, an outstanding student, an excellent athlete, involved in student government, beautiful inside and out and she was my friend.

You should have never given up! You were our chance of voice of reason and can do great things. We need someone like you!

Such sad irony - SC voted for Joe because he was a known quantity. But you would have been the true champion to end systemic racism.

I was a child during the race riots in the 1960’s in Kansas City. I remember how close the fires and destruction were to our home and how scared my parents were. We lived in Johnson County which was a target of the protestors. I also remember my father saying if they would just treat everyone the same we wouldn’t be going through this. This was from a young man from rural Kansas that was absolutely and completely racist during his childhood. That same man will be attending my daughter, his granddaughters marriage to her awesome wife in November. Things can only change if people open their hearts. He did. We all can. Love ya Pete.

Pete I would have voted for you, with that being said I want to hear immediate steps. Things that will turn around an immediate difference...Where do complaints about officers go, who reviews them, is the protocol standard or nationwide, who do we petition or campaign to put some standard basic rules and consequences in place... where does someone start to channel all of this helplessness into this sort of action?

I think the key to trying to repair the disconnect in America that has become more vicious in the last 40 years is to try to sincerely imagine what your life would be like if you had been born black and poor, starting out life behind the 8 ball, trying to live down centuries of stereotypes and bias. Doesn’t sound like a lot of fun. We can do much much better, but we desperately need higher quality leadership and we need it really soon.

While I agree with the sentiment here, it is just that, sentiment. You have the platform Pete to reach a lot of people. You could be directing people to the Minnesota Freedom Fund or Black Visions Collective to donate. You could be advocating for the dismissal and prosecution of the other officers who just stood and watched George Floyd suffocate. Even just doing research into different long term solutions and posting your findings would be helpful. I believe you mean well, but you could do more.

#BlackLivesMatter does not start with "Only" so the "all" arguments are just an indication people are unwilling to step back and truly try to comprehend the fear the black community has when cops are involved and bigots as well. I'm a 55 year old white guy in one of the whitest states, Vermont, and I understand what privilege means and it's not guilt, it's empathy and realization, as a white guy, when I've been pulled over for speeding, never was I concerned the cop was going to pull a gun on me.

I was a member of the WAC stationed at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington D.C. in the late 60's when Martin Luther King was killed, and I saw first hand what hate can do to a city, and it's people. Girls that we had lived with and worked with, all of a sudden became strangers to us. I didn't understand at the time, but I do now. We need someone like you to give us hope and bring us together as one nation. We were so very sorry to see you drop out of the race, but hope in time, you will come back. You would have our vote.

“We” white people have SO much work to do. It begins today, right here in Minneapolis. We MUST admit to how we have not paid full attention to the racism in our communities. We have sheltered in place, and that was wrong. We must rise up to racism and stop it in its tracks, starting with our families, our neighbors, our communities. We need leaders to show the way. My hope, my sweet town of Minneapolis leads the way.

THIS is why you should be the President of this country. I like Joe, I really do but YOU are the better equipped to fix what is happening in America.

I am voting for Biden. But there is no fire in my support. He is the only choice given to our party. Please understand that many of us are processing this. You were my candidate, I backed you financially and wholeheartedly, and it fell apart after you suddenly quit. I pray Biden makes a thoughtful choice for his Vice President. Perhaps it will be you. Or perhaps you'll wait to run again in 2024. I'll vote for Joe, but there's no fire in my heart. It's a necessary action.

I was excited about the prospect of you being our president for so many reasons. I support Joe because Trump cannot get elected again and because I still support you. I am still figuring out how to fuel the Joe fire in myself in an honest way. Right now it is 1) We need Trump out. 2) Joe seems like a genuinely decent person. 3) I get the sense that he understands the importance of surrounding himself with a good, intelligent, strong team in the white house which makes me hopeful. If others have positives, please pass them on. I would love to hear them.

Will we ever know WHY you suddenly BOLTED and out of the blue dropped out??? Who bought you??? Will be very hard for me to ever be a part of your team again! Because of the "behind the scene games" we are stuck with very bad choices for our country and our children's future.

I second the views of many on this post. I was excited and thrilled when I thought Pete could possibly be our next president. I will vote for Biden but only because we can’t take four more years of Trump. I certainly hope Pete runs again. There is a lot to like about him and we need some new leadership.

I will vote for Vice President Biden! I would like to see Susan Rice as his Vice President. All of the Democratic candidates had some great qualities and I’d like to see each of them in his administration. I am unhappy about our Primary election process. Not every state/ citizen had an opportunity to vote for the candidate of our choice. The primary election should be on the same day in every state.

Pete you inspired me with your run. I appreciate you showing that we can make a difference by supporting our candidates. I’m excited to be running for office for the first time ever, and your words are so true. I can only be successful with the help of others. Even small acts of kindness go a long way in a campaign. Y’all support your local candidates! Even sending them a message with a word of encouragement can give them an extra push.

Good luck getting anyone that supports Biden to donate or make calls. You guys picked the least excitable candidates possible, because tbh you are okay with losing as long as Bernie doesn't win.

Pete honestly most of us are not excited about Biden as the Democratic candidate. I know for me personally, I feel like I am reliving 2016. You were the best hope for us! I only hope that Biden has a strong vice-president.

People before politics. Kelly McDonough, a teacher, wife and mother running for state representative in Pennsylvania, does not just say it.. She believes it and lives it. I met Kelly in February, and I have been honored to work alongside her on her campaign over these last several months. I have been fortunate to see first-hand the kind of person she is and the character she has. Kelly is one of the hardest workers I know... working her butt off for the campaign and to make a difference in the lives of those in her community. She gives so much of herself to her campaign while balancing all the responsibilities of being a full-time teacher and a young mother (with another baby on the way in a matter of weeks). She has compassion, integrity and determination. I am honored to support her!

Anyone in their right mind will not vote for Trump. What makes it sad and depressing is when you have facts, done research, due diligence on all media outlets andthere is one third of this nation that still supports a vial man full of lies, hate, and divisiveness. I don’t get it unless hate has got that big of a lead. Sorry for the long post.

I don't know that I have the resources to change a human (who I don't even have direct access to) in a few months. If I had that kind of power we'd be holding "reelect Hillary" rallies right now.

I understand Joe Biden's thoughts on having a woman on the ticket, and in a normal election, that would be a great idea. It is time people realize that gender, race, etc does not make or break someone, it is what is inside that counts. This election is more important then any other one in history. There has been a lot of damage done that needs to be fixed before new issues can even be tackled. You made the most sense out of all the candidates. i was so disappointed when you ended your campaign. Having you as the VP would give the Democrats a great ticket for this year and would give you the experience to step in as president in the next election.

I have a question, is Memorial Day only to honor soldiers who died in war, or all veterans who have since died? I think it is the former but I believe that those soldiers who died do to complications from war and from PTSD should also be included

I am 70 years old & have never missed voting. I've voted by mail in all but three elections. I actually think I am a more thoughtful & diligent voter. With a cup of coffee (or wine) by my side, at home I take the time to research & thoughtfully consider each candidate & issue before making my mark.

Changing his residency to Fla to have another republican vote is unjust in itself let alone being able to mail in vote as does the rest of his family. He’s ridiculous.

Pete, I'm not sure "just because the president does it" is the smartest reason to do something these days for almost anything. However in this one case, you're right, we should be able to vote by mail.

Sent in our applications for voting by mail for the upcoming primary in NJ. First time I'm voting by mail for anything. If I like it, I may request it for every election.

I said it to someone recently, and I'll say it again here: the problem is that I'm not sure I trust this administration not to interfere with the postal service and/or the mailing of the completed ballots in some way. I don't know what that interference could be, but I also wouldn't put it past them to try something. They're all crooks, swindlers, and cheats.

I've also have voted by mail for years with no problem. I started using the absentee ballot here in Florida when I retired because we traveled a lot. I love getting it early so I have time to get familiar with the ballot, candidates, and amendments. I feel confident that the signature sealed privacy envelope validates my vote. I don't have to drive in the rain or stand in line on election day. Only thing I miss is the "I Voted " sticker. 😍

...and if Republicans can even make the statement that it "benefits the Democrats," they are acknowledging that prohibiting vote-by-mail quiets certain voices. Shameful.

Each state has control on how they vote or caucus to select their delegates, including vote by mail which has been allowed for years in Indiana. There were more restrictions on who it was available to until now, but again, this is not Federally controlled.

It Works Great in Utah since 2106. It's overall less expensive and is well regulated! Surprised Republican officials aren't mentioning this (not).

If it’s safe to mail Tax Refunds, Census, Social Security Checks, Stimulus Checks, Draft Registrations,Prescriptions Drugs, Passports, your Driver’s License or the actual ID you’d use to VOTE... then it’s safe to vote by mail. After all it has been used by the military for decades...

Oregon has been voting by mail for 20 years. I have voted by mail every election since moving here 3 yrs ago. This method of voting is MUCH better than trying to get out of work early only to stand in line to vote for my candidate.

I know, someone will argue (again) that he did it by "pick up and delivery," to which once again I will point out that those are still considered voting by mail... you know... absentee ballot... which he had someone else pick up and deliver back. Also, trump changed his voting address to Mar-a-lago... a CLUB. Per agreements that he signed with the town that no one was allowed to stay there for more than 7 days at a time, and not more than 3 times in a year; and not consecutively. Ooops. Guess what a club isn't... a residence. If you ever wonder what illegal shenanigans trump is up to, just listen to the accusations he is making of others... he's outing himself and trying to deflect from anyone noticing.

If voting by mail will bring more voters to cast a ballot, then do it. Mayor Pete, I hope you will stay in politics, this country really needs you.

It’s all about voter suppression, which is done by closing polling places, and made up requirements. Voting by mail would eliminate that. That’s a big part of this issue. Republicans are trying to hang on to their voter suppression tactics.
