Michael J. Fox is a Canadian-American actor and activist from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. He became famous in the 1980s for his role as Marty McFly in the “Back to the Future” film trilogy and for playing Alex P. Keaton on the TV show “Family Ties.” Fox also starred in the sitcom “Spin City” and lent his voice to animated films like “Stuart Little.” In 1991, he was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease and subsequently founded The Michael J. Fox Foundation to fund research for a cure. He has won multiple Emmy and Golden Globe awards and retired from acting in 2020 due to his health, but remains an influential advocate for Parkinson’s research.
